A backyard obstacle course is a flexible physical activity that can be set up with simple supplies and adapted to the age, skill level, and energy of the group.

How To Run It

  1. Set up 4 to 6 simple movement stations such as hopping through hoops, crawling under a rope, balancing on a line, and tossing a beanbag into a bucket.
  2. Walk the children through the full course before starting.
  3. Run it one child at a time, in waves, or as a relay depending on your space.
  4. After one round, let the children suggest one new challenge to add.
