Opening Game
Beanbag Toss Challenge
Beanbag Toss Challenge is a low-prep target game that can be calm or competitive depending on the group. It works especially well when leaders want movement without full running.
How To Run It
- Set up several targets at different distances.
- Assign each target a point value or simply let each child try for a successful toss.
- Have children take turns tossing beanbags from a marked line.
- Rotate through individual turns, team turns, or stations.
- After a few rounds, move the line farther back or change the type of toss.
- End while the game is still moving smoothly and transition to the main activity.
Variations
- Use underhand tosses only for safety.
- Let children toss with their non-dominant hand for a funny challenge.
- Put discussion prompts or scripture words under the targets.
- Run it as a quiet station if another group is meeting nearby.
