How To Run It

  1. Set up simple stations for levers, wheels, inclined planes, and pulleys.
  2. Introduce the idea that simple machines help make work easier.
  3. Demonstrate each station briefly before children begin.
  4. Let groups rotate and try the experiment at each station.
  5. Ask children to name where they see that machine in real life.
  6. Finish with a quick building challenge using two simple machines together.

  • Lever: lift a book with a ruler and block.
  • Ramp: roll a car down different slopes.
  • Wheel and axle: compare dragging and rolling.
